Message backfill

Bring your historical text and chat history from another provider into CurrentClient

Updated July 2, 2026

Switching to CurrentClient does not mean leaving your history behind. With message backfill, you can upload the conversations you had on your previous provider so they show up in your inbox. That way you keep one continuous record of every client conversation, even the ones that happened before you moved.

Which providers can I import from?#

You can bring in your existing chat and message history from the providers below. Each one exports its data a little differently, so the file you upload depends on where you are coming from.

Zoom

Import your Zoom Phone message history

MyRepChat

Import your MyRepChat conversation history

RingCentral

Import your RingCentral message history

Google Voice

Import your Google Voice message history

Quo (formerly OpenPhone)

Import your Quo or OpenPhone conversation history

Each provider exports a different set of data, so a few details may not carry over exactly. If you are not sure whether your history will import cleanly, send us the file and we will take a look before you commit to anything.

Many people who backfill their history are also moving their phone number over at the same time. If that is you, start with the porting overview and pick your carrier there. Porting moves your number, and backfill brings the old conversations along with it.

How do I import my history?#

1

Export your history from your old provider

Sign in to your previous provider and export your message or chat history. Where this lives and what format you get depends on the provider, so reach out if you cannot find it and we will point you to the right spot.

2

Open the message backfill page

In CurrentClient, go to the message backfill page under your settings.

3

Create a backfill and upload your file

Choose the provider your history came from, then select the file you exported and upload it.

4

We process the import

Once your file is uploaded, our team takes it from there. When the import finishes, your historical conversations appear alongside your other threads in the inbox.

Backfill is not instant. After you upload your file, our team processes the import behind the scenes, so your history shows up a little while later rather than the moment you hit upload. We will let you know once it is done.
